Grenada Work Boat Regatta–“Pull” Susan Mains

These wooden boats that are raced in Grenada and the Grenadines have a life of their own propelled by the love of the sea by the men and young men racing them.  They may not follow the rules of international sailing, but they have a code all their own, often loudly disputed at the end of a close race.  The sound of the wind whipping these sails captures me and pulls me in to tell the story. How could one ever tire of this.ImageSusan Mains, “Pull” Oil on Canvas 42″ x 36″ 2013
