When people walk into Art and Soul Gallery the first painting that they
walk directly to is “Istra with the Pearl Earring” Asher Mains painted his friend Istra as a sample of his portrait
painting service, which he is offering for a very reasonable price. So, the painting that is causing so much stir
is not really for sale, but oh my goodness the attention that it has received!
When you think about it, there are some parallels to the famous young woman in France who holds court at
the Louvre. The soft look, the blurry background, the fine, controlled strokes of paint, the muted colours, but
most of all the presence that she maintains. After more than 400 years when Da Vinci painted her,
her spirit still shines through.

will look at this painting and shake their heads in wonder, and repeat after me, “She is Grenada’s Mona Lisa”
