Maria might just be a wizard.  The new works that she just brought in to the gallery have a subtle magic about them, and when you hear her talk about them, you are quite certain that there is some alchemy involved.

She says, “I just wanted to combine some red with this gold, and when it came from the kiln, it had taken on a life of its own. Beautiful little islets of green and blue had appeared, beauty completely beyond my control.”
